The writing and performances in this show are outstanding. One of the best plays I've seen at the HFF in a long time. I was engaged in the story the whole time and the acting from all three performers was top notch. This was a last-minute decision to attend, as we had some time to kill between shows. So we walked up and bought tickets. What a delightful surprise. Go see it. You won't be disappointed. ...

This was a wonderfully moving and profoundly courageous show that will linger for a long time after. I was so moved by Marianne' deeply human and intimate portrayal of the different aspects of grief; of the messiness, the absurdity (and hidden humour), the unpredictability, the loneliness- reminding us how so much of it remains unspoken in our society. I cried and belly-laughed and left deeply moved....

"A Year in Dragonfly" is a work in process, deeply personal, powerful, moving and insightful one woman-one act play that explores the transformation of its author and star, who has been betrayed by her parents, family and all of the men in her life, to a more mentally healthful place. In this work-in-process, we learn how the playwright repeatedly made all the wrong choices in her life seeking the love that her abusive parents and childhood family could not give her. Her search for intimacy and ...

Cole Quirk's original comedy I'm Jennifer Mother F*cking Lawrence is a comedic thrill from start to finish. Christy Lee Hughes and Alice Winslow did an outstanding job playing the celebrity actors Jennifer Lawrence and Rose Byrne. Cole's dialogue was fun, quick-witted, and packed a comedic punch that made me leave the theatre on a high! I better see Christy Lee Hughes leading a TV comedy series ASAP!! ...

This was such a great time! A story with modern and relevant quips that make this a show enjoyable for all audiences- especially LA peeps. This concept was one of the most interesting of the fringe shows this year and the production did not disappoint. Entertaining, fun/funny, and overall enjoyable experience. ...

Remarkable! Shanara was captivating. She was able to summarize the complexities of being an African American woman into 1 hour, while mixing tragedy with humor. Using her own history as a back drop to her story telling, she also intertwined current media events. ...

Some one-man shows are amazing, some are really lame. This one falls into the latter category. There was some laughter during the show, but it was of the awkward, embarrassed sort. Mostly the feeling was just WTF is this guy doing? Ultimately a pointless waste of time. ...

In this sparkling one-woman show, Heather Dowling allows us to tag along on her personal journey of non-momhood. She deftly weaves together humor and grit as she tackles the conversation everyone is nervous to broach: fertility. Dowling is vulnerable, charming, and accessible; the show feels like having a chat with a best friend. Be you a parent or childfree, it's an honest peek behind the curtain of a taboo subject, with warmth, humor, and a cast of refreshing characters, all played by Dowling...

WOWWWW, A Must See!!!
Shanara grabbed us and kept us thoroughly engaged from the start. I could feel the depths of pain, humor and thoughtfulness of how the experiences affected Shanara. I remembered my own and saw audience members recalling theirs with mixed emotions, as we all experienced the show. Intense, funny, thought-provoking and more all balled up in this Beautiful, Chocolate-Brown Black Woman, who barred her soul to us. Shanara's realness made me appreciate her stories even more. ...

A beautiful summation of what it means to be a mother. April has a gift for poetic storytelling. She attacks the piece with infectious passion. She is raw, honest, touching, hilarious, heart-wrenching. You literally feel like you are transported into her living room. As a mother, she made me re-think things from a new perspective...and that is worth it's weight in gold. A simply wonderful show!!...
