My Trans Wife

peter massey · June 09, 2019 certified reviewer
This is more than theatre; it's an intimate personal sharing of a beautiful relationship that has stood up against incredible odds - delivered by the two people who have lived it. Kudos for writing, directing and the fearlessness of Mimi and Mara, who are opening their lives onstage so we the audience can understand the Trans marriage experience. It was one "ah-hah" moment after another for me - and I'm LGBT! ... full review

WHAT? a story show

peter sisk · June 09, 2019 certified reviewer
When it serves a purpose above that of mere entertainment (a noble enough purpose, one supposes), drama sheds a light on the human condition, highlighting some aspects and shrouding others in darkness. The actor struts and frets his or her hour upon the stage. We in the audience spectate and speculate - we reflect on the spectacle. If the stars align, something we see may resonate with us and make us just a little wiser about our own role in the world (which, according to one Famous Maker Big D... full review

I thought the show was fantastic. Marla's ease with slipping between comedy and tragedy had me on the edge of my seat. She is an amazing performer and I would love to see the show again. ... full review

This was a lot of fun. It works even if you're not a Trek fan because of the inherent silliness of it all, but if you are a Trekkie as I am then you'll appreciate it even more.... full review

Generally , i think all actors perform really well. If anything i wish lighting effect was better at adjusting for ending scene. Due to lighting effect , i was confused content of ending scene. Did the prodigy killed herself or something else ?? I know something tragic happened since prodigy memories presented symbolic of father and piano.... full review

This show ran so smoothly. No hiccups and engaging from start to finish. Lucy Gillespie condenses and explains the complexities of campaigning in a way that any audience member can follow. Her writing humanizes larger than life historical figures and unveils their character in a relatable way. Great writing, great directing, great acting. Political theatre often revolves around idea, but Son of Bitch successfully makes politics about people instead of heady principles. Would see again. ... full review

A masterpiece. The most incredible experience I’ve had in a theater, hands down. Watching this play is like starting a movie thinking it’s a dark comedy and then you get this tingling sensation in your stomach like this might be a David Lynch film but then your heart starts pounding because you realize this isn’t David Lynch, this isn’t a movie at all. You’re in a dream, the kind you wake up from and then quickly shut your eyes, desperate to fall back into. The kind where, even though you know it... full review
