Batter Up! My Brain on Baseball

martin rodriguez · June 15, 2019 certified reviewer
Woah. This is by far one of my favorite fringe shows ever. Even though this show is about baseball and someone's love for the sport, the show does not exclude anyone from itself. If you love sports, if you don't, if you love baseball, like it even just a bit, or if you don't- this show will leave you entertained. This show has set the bar very high for one person shows. I was entertained from start to finish (and honestly could've sat through a couple more hours of it!). ... full review

Heather is an incredible solo performer. You know instantly that you are in good hands with her. Her character’s specificity and ability to choose just the right amount of just the right words to tell the story is truly a gift. The show is sneakily educational, hiding facts in clever dialogue, but also clearly painting the full picture of society’s judgment and opinions. It was witty and relatable - and masterfully tackles a topic that is inexplicably taboo with true grace. ... full review

HELL'S KITTY

The show is too long by at least a half-hour, with zero character development, and a lot of misogynistic humor. Also, the direction was incredibly weak, with all of the moments of the cat becoming demonic reading as awkward and anticlimactic.... full review

Stunningly beautiful. I can't stop thinking about last nights performance of Alive-ish. The music, the dance, the song and Anabella....exquisite. My heart split open and humanity rushed in...tenderness, compassion, love, anger, sadness...it all came up during the course of the performance. Thank you.... full review

Heather's spirit is infectious. She lights up the stage the moment she walks on. Through her polished, tight, 1-hour show, she beautifully opens the book on a topic that so many women take for granted. So honored to have been in the room to watch her shine. (And someone...PLEASE get this woman a piece of chocolate! LOL. See the show, and you'll love this scene as much as I did). :)... full review
