SWIPED

Among the best of the Fringe ! This is a comedic look at phone-app dating seen through the eyes of Alena's fictional persona Polly. Alena is a total talent -- professional opera-level voice, killer lyrics (she co-wrote with the director), Broadway-level performance ! This one-woman show has a live keyboardist, and Alena's singing voice fills the Hudson. The lyrics are Disney-level sharp; Alena also plays all the other characters and two more live instruments, flute and ukulele. There were ... full review

A wonderful journey into the mind of 'just a guy named Ross' As a one man show, this works beautifully, it's well paced, well thought out and the transition of Ross through his life to become the man that stands before you is an interesting journey to behold. The moments of truth are evident as you feel what he went through and experienced, as if you were a fly on the wall. A story told with heart, humility and understanding. Not exactly what I was expecting and challenged the way I thought abou... full review

I was looking forward to a solid, funny solo show about someone who moved from MO and had tales to spin about the people she knew there. This is instead something entirely different, entirely hilarious and far more entertaining. It's a hugely talented comic performer presenting what amounts to a series of comedy sketches with one character in each. There is no over arching tale to tell and yet, she manages to create something of a story just from well written, well acted characters performed with... full review

The songs and script were tight and it allowed the actors the space to really dig into their characters with an almost SNL inspired aire. This kept you engaged and at the fingertips of the performers and the scenes carried momentum in what was a laugh out loud funny, definite must-see.... full review

Fantastic. It's always heartening to see a drama at the Fringe which really nails it - and boy, this nails it. Great writing, great direction, and the performances of Blaire Chandler and Alli Miller are outstanding. They each have such ease on stage, inhabiting the characters like a second skin, and playing off one another (and the great Krista Conti) beautifully with zipping dialogue. With an important and powerful theme, and THE DUCHESS AND THE STRIPPER is one of the best shows at the Fringe th... full review

Executives, writers, casting, directors, etc. all need to see this show. This is what Hollywood needs. In short: incredible. Candid, sweet, yet darkly funny and brutally honest, SEALED manages to be both revealing and self-effacing. Even as someone already impressed by Jane's work ethic and talent, I still found myself blown away by her ability to combine humor with heartbreak; to do so alone on a stage with only her life as her material makes it all the more remarkable. An enlightening look at love, growth, and womanhood, SEALED successfully captures the oppressed, curious spirit of all women thr... full review
