Kelly Pierre has written one of the most compelling shows of HFF19. Scott Golden has captured her intent and directed a show that is worthy of attention, praise and awards. Not only did Pierre write the play, but she appears with the amazing Fringe virgin Sam Sheeks in this outstanding two-hander. ... full review

Louisa May Alcott is an American literary treasure, and I’m sure she would have loved this interpretation of her book, which is told from the POV of Alcott as she wrote the stories. Tier5 has created a masterpiece of theater that should appeal to just about every living, breathing human, and director Ariel Francoeur captures every nuance of the story, giving his amazing cast everything they need to bring it to life. ... full review

I'll start with the good, I quite enjoyed the dancing. A few of the songs had great rhythm to them and I felt like the stage was well used. However This is one of the shows that seems to be getting a lot of buzz, so I was super excited to see it. Maybe it's personal taste, maybe it was an off night, but I found it to fall a bit flat. More so, I found it to be a bit pretentious. It was the kind of story that felt as though it insisted upon itself, like it kept waving it's arms saying "hey lo... full review

TobinCon

It's been quite challenging to know precisely where to begin with any description of Tobincon. The failure to collect my written thoughts about this piece isn't due to anything that might be considered intrinsically wrong with the performance by Mitnick or his show. Quite the opposite in fact – it is caused by the Tobincon being one of the most the intelligent, most fiercely acted, and most intimately engaging pieces I have seen thus far at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. ... full review

Treason

Treason has a tension meter that starts to boil early on the show as we see the Wilsons fight over a board game up until we see how deep the rabbit hole goes. Grant Wilson’s performance is authoritarian, mean, xenophobic, stubborn, violent, tyrannical yet you can’t take your eyes away from him.... full review

Both shows took my breath away. Truly some of the best work I've seen from performers in a long, long time. Each show achieves the difficult task of striking the right balance between hilarious & heartbreaking. The first piece, Alyssa's on the "simulacra," is like a feminist take on Black Mirror; in fact, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that her 30 minute show is far more thoughtful and powerful than anything Black Mirror has made in years. Her show is one of the most powerful depictions ... full review

How to Turn Your Theatrical Story Into A Book

Going to Stacy's workshop was such a great use of my time!! She simply went over the steps it takes to write a great book or screenplay. Her free workshop gave me the tools to get started on my book but her online course is going to take me to a higher level. I'm so grateful to have attended her workshop because what I learned will save me lots of time and money without having to spend it on research. Attending the workshop and talking to others who attended inspired me to start writing my book t... full review
