How I Became A Superhero

How I Became A Superhero is a cleverly written, well executed, and highly energetic new play that is definitely worthy of your time. Translating the fun of a comic book into the stage is no easy task- but this team handles it with a whole lot of talent and creativity. ... full review

This was an intimate portrayal of a relationship’s end. Langer and Fountain’s performances were entirely realistic and absorbing. Through present day scenes, and flashback moments, the audience saw how both sides recalled the same shared experiences, that ultimately lead to the destruction of the relationship. ... full review

Completely swept away by the authenticity, and humanity expressed. Michael is a naturally gifted storyteller, a compelling anti-hero, and the story itself takes center stage, letting any artifice, or 'performance' fall away. Birthday is an ode to living on the West Coast, and grappling with life beyond death and destruction. Absolutely heart.... full review

If you've never read Tom Stoppard's play, I hate to give you homework but you should before you go if you want to fully enjoy every reference the play manages to flip into the world of Harry Potter. The attempt is successful to a great extent and offers up good performances from all involved, especially from the two leads. There's plenty to laugh at and you may never watch the films without wondering where Crabbe and Goyle are again.... full review

This is a fascinating exploration of all things superhero through the lens of a married couple who do not know that they are secretly both good guys. The most intriguing aspects of the show are hard to discuss without giving anything away but, in general terms, the show seems to explore the potential for tension in a relationship when it appears trust has been betrayed while it sends both characters through an emotional gauntlet that questions just what it might take to turn a good person into a... full review

Kudos to Bob for fulfilling his dream of doing his own solo show at the Fringe. The man has obviously seen many over the festival's ten years and he speaks about his interest in them during his performance, noting how brave it seems to take the stage for 60 minutes alone. He has a lot of stories to share, and in many instances, some of the more interesting ones are shelved for 'maybe another time'. It's hard not to wish that Bob had taken one more step out on that theatrical ledge and been wil... full review

Olivia Wilde Does Not Survive the Apocalypse

Like RIDDLEY WALKER and MR. BURNS, OLIVIA WILDE DOES NOT SURVIVE THE APOCALYPSE concerns the production of a popular work of our era in a post-apocalyptic future. But I don't think anyone has done it as comically as playwright Matthew Robinson and the cast and crew of this show. Sean-Michael Bowles and Emilie Martz play a director and an actor unfrozen into futuristic police state where their lives depend on their production of Oscar Wilde's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. Director Robby Devi... full review

I know this theatre is off the beaten path but please, I beg you, give it a try. Not only is the space just stunning, but this is also the kind of social justice theatre we need more of in this unjust world. There were moments where pace lagged or transitions took a while but those are quickly forgotten the second the action picked back up. If you aren't impacted by the stories that are told here, I don't even know what you are but you aren't fully human. If you don't notice how many people i... full review

Yes, they agreed to transport me back an hour so I could avoid the show, but it's still not worth it as I have vague memories.... feelings?... memories. ... full review
