Fifty Shades of Melania

If you don't know anything about Melania Trump's antics you may not understand a lot of the jokes but if you're like me and madly stalk all the Melania Trump hashtags (#freeMelania, anyone?) then you'll get the jokes right away. Liana takes on a journey through the many different "shades" of a woman so many of us are curious about. My personal favorite was the Pussy Power one that made us have hope that Melania would be on our side until...(spoiler alert) she takes off her metaphorical mask and s... full review

Butcher Holler Here We Come!

One of the most creative and absorbing uses of a Fringe space I've ever seen. Utilitarian in every way except the storytelling which is lush, powerful, and beautifully claustrophobic. It's a haunting piece. ... full review

Marla is so likable and it makes us fall in love with her and her show the second she steps on the stage. There is not a single part of her that the audience dislikes and we are rooting for her the whole way. I so appreciate and admire her honesty and candor and how she so easily transitioned from humor to devastation so smoothly and with ease. I hope she makes another show because I will for sure be in that audience. If you decide to skip this show, you are making a sorry mistake. Get your butt ... full review

THE BULLY PROBLEM

monique lebleu · June 22, 2019 certified reviewer
So far, this is my favorite musical to come out of Hollywood Fringe this year. Remember how you felt the first time you performed in, or even saw, your first high school or college musical? Remember that giddy excitement that sent warm shivers down your spine, instilling a feeling that told you this is how it should always be? If for some reason you've since lost that passionate feeling about musical theatre, then The Bully Problem will resurrect it.... full review

Squeeze My CABARET

Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be....you know the rest. With a superb speaking and singing voice, a mop of unruly hair, a gift for mimicry and physical comedy and a couple of cleverly designed puppets, Cathy blasts off like an Apollo rocket in this roast of the hypocrisy behind the "church" of Scientology. Leave your decorum outside.... full review

Olivia Wilde Does Not Survive the Apocalypse

Fan's of veteran Hollywood Fringe producer, director, and writer Matthew Robinson's passed shows might see this campy farce romp as a departure. Fans of dystopian apocalypse tropes will revel. Fun, in tune with celebrity culture, and occasionally quite silly, the show is a nice romp for the sci-fi nerd in all of us. As with the film "Idiocracy" (2006), the what-if's may sound ridiculous and absurd. But with where we are now in society, in current politics, and in the increasing rise of celebr... full review

Two fully realized short plays. In the first, a young man (probably a seminarian) has come to his middle-aged superior and spiritual adviser to seek her signature on an application to move to another divinity school. We quickly learn that he has waking wet dreams of sex with some kind of spirit and she talks directly to God. Fine acting, a mix of sex and sanctity, percussive sound effects and a riveting ending, this play is not for the squeamish. In the second play, which takes place at night,... full review
