MOTHER'S MOTHERS' DAY

Truth in Advertising is taking a beating in the shows I've chosen to see at this year's Fringe! This untapped bio of the woman credited with creating Mother's Day was advertised at NINETY (90) minutes but stopped at THIRTY-THREE (33) minutes---and still seemed long for an underdeveloped anecdote! Elise Dewsberry does as well as anyone can playing both characters in a duel of wits (mother & daughter, PLUS President Woodrow Wilson) but the play would be better served with a 2nd actress playing t... full review

Loved it! Can't wait to see where this group is going to go next. Limitless potential in how they could play. Go for their physical play, and for your idea of "entertainment" to be completely deconstructed. ... full review

Here's a refreshing antidote to today's rampant "me-too"ism: a cute actor (played by cute actor Al LaFleur) is encouraged by his practical wife to screw his way up the ladder of success to benefit both of them, starting at the lowest rung with a practical queen one generation older! It's "Indecent Proposal" for the 21st century, filtered through the Ed Wood School of Dramaturgy! An ingratiating cast (2F/2M---including the British auteur as the seducer) but it starts slow and goes on for 85 minut... full review

I would watch any show devised by Amrita and Gemma. Intelligent, compassionate, HILARIOUS, boundary-pushing and full of surprises, this show will leave your cheeks sore from laughing and your tender heart opened wide. They've used the power of comedy and clown to do what it does in it's purest form: reminded us how connected we all are in the universal human experience of life (and death) and love. That we are more alike than different. And this is truly how comedy can change the world. It's powe... full review

"The cast is bolstered by Lucy Gillespie’s hardball script and director Billy Ray Brewton’s fly-on-the-wall gravitas." Read the full review here: http://fringereview.co.uk/review/hollywoodfringe/2019/son-of-a-bitch/... full review

After reading some less than hospitable reviews about this piece, I tried to go in with an open mind. Thank goodness I did. What a riot this show was. Relevant, hysterical, well-written and directed. This was a Fringe standout. Any reviewer who objectively disliked this piece must have been watching a different show. ... full review

First off, this was an obscure blast from the past for me. I kinda' remember the story of Karen, the astronaut, driving cross country wearing a diaper, attempting to kidnap her lover's new GF. Or something like that, but diapers were involved. My lovely client, Dagney Kerr, played Karen & with Dagney's starring & the plot line a mystery, I had to see this play. What an incredible wild ride! The story moves with lightening perfect speed. The characters are brilliant & each one an odd ball in their... full review

The powerful story engages throughout a well-written play that is persuasively enacted by a perfect cast. It is about class ... it is about race ... it is about diverse families ... and all brought to a wrenching conclusion. This is absolutely relevant theatre for now, and perhaps the best drama I have seen at the Fringe ever, in any year. A must see for everyone!... full review
