Gutsy. Brave. Touch my heart. Funny when Corina enacted her Granma Shocking when she re-enacted her parents she stabbed her father with kitchen knife. She is a strong and truthful Actor. Bravo Corina. ... full review

Delightfully zany characters and situations, beautifully (and impressively) constructed set, great use of atmospheric sound. That said, some fatigue sets in towards the end due to lack of clear narrative.... full review

Ascend: When Myths Fall, Heroes Rise

Smart, entertaining, interactive as hell, and just damned fun. Three of us ranging in ages from 12 (my son) to 19 (my daughter) to 46 (me) were fully engaged for 2 hours by the storytelling, the challenges, and the overall atmosphere. Amazing what they were able to pull off in what would seem like a limited setting, but feels full and well-realized. ... full review

If It Goes There

After a long day at the office, I was taken aback by how swept up in IF IT GOES THERE I became. It is a delightful evening of compelling and funny live theater. The theater, though small, is cool and comfortable. The spartan technical aspects severed the play very well. Great script, great cast, great direction.... full review

Real, intense, comic, heart-wrenching and brave as hell. Marnie Olson cracks open her psyche and lets us inside. Relatable and courageous, this is one writer I want to know. Olson and director, Jennifer Chun are amazing humans and this work shows us that they are woke and paying attention--and not afraid to go for it creatively. ... full review

WHAT? a story show

michael mnitzani · June 21, 2019 uncertified reviewer
I didn't quite get what the story was about at first. This is because I don't bother reading anything before going to shows. I was waiting for all these characters to come together in some dramatic weave, but didn't realize it was these peoples' actual stories. In hindsight, holy cow, what a bunch of weird and fascinating experiences! ... full review

Blindsided

michael mnitzani · June 21, 2019 uncertified reviewer
This play is what Fringe is all about. People telling their stories, baring their souls to an audience mesmerized and hanging on to every word the performer says. Jeanette Rizzi has this beautiful life story that she tells, full of ups and downs, accomplishment, friendlship, and the different manifestations that love brings and love's echoes in loss. A remarkable tale of perserverence, humor, and giddy joy. ... full review

Jessie's Messy Mind

Wow, what a show into a messy mind! Jessie bares her soul delightfully to an audience. The creativity and the story was beautiful. This story showed us how gnarly schizophrenia can be. This play opened my eyes to the sense that we could learn about things through long winded books, or watch it play out in the theater which is infinitely more better. ... full review

This was so nostalgic, bringing back to my high school days, going to Denny's and playing Mr. Roboto on the jukebox and ordering whatever being buttheadedish The play was late at night, but the play was super clever. Like, it was full of, "oh, I see what you did there". It's witty, kinda like Seinfeld meets super mario world castle levels with super cool gimmick meets "my dinner with Andre", but oh, for the sake of us, way better than "My Dinner with Andre". What I liked about the play is it... full review

A very enjoyable play revolving around the lives of young adults who come from the same small town, their struggles in life after high school, and how modern technology (smartphones, video chat, and even rideshare) affect the ways in which they connect with one another. This show has great subtle acting and dialogue that feel like you are watching a good movie or TV show. ... full review

Naked Onstage

anonymous · June 21, 2019 uncertified reviewer
I had no idea of what I was going to see, but came on advice from a friend. The idea of being "naked on stage" is how I perceived all actors to be anyway so I was not expecting to be dazzled. Our actor Kent quickly dashed my misconception of the title and I quickly learned that this was not to be a book judged by its cover- a running theme of this piece. As to not give away any spoilers, I can only say that I was more than pleasantly surprised at the depth of exploration and wit that was laid bef... full review

Prodigy

Prodigy centers around the portrayal of a Korean-American family but masterfully presents themes that individuals from wide backgrounds can relate to. It manages to be culturally specific while simultaneously tapping into experiences and desires that are human, not simply Korean-American. The audience leaves having gained insight into one culture but finds that that insight serves as a means to a larger end: the play engenders a renewed resolve to more sensitively and intentionally value and empa... full review

I Can't Do To Richard!

jenni halina · June 21, 2019 certified reviewer
A powerful and thought provoking script that is extremely well written. It all seems so effortless and natural, you'd think you accidentally walked into the forest and came across these two people. With a minimal (yet sufficient) set, the two actors create a whole world within the story and connect with one another in a short amount of time on stage. The script is natural, clever and even has moments of comedy that arise organically even though the script is about mourning someone. Honestly, I co... full review
