The play was very well thought out and performed quite nicely. It touched on many subjects that are not discussed too often in a public forum, yet, those subjects are as real as our existence.... full review

DROUGHT

Drought begins quite disarmingly with mythic riffs on the historic ocean of female oppression. Then Kate Radford opened her mouth to sing and became that ocean. Vast and deep, powerful and personal, her loops lured me in and pulled me under until I surrendered. Then she returned me to the surface and laid me breathless on the shore. I almost died. I wanna do it again. ... full review

This production is everything you want out of a two-person relationship play. Specific acting choices that make the characters layered and unique, interesting direction that uses the space in smart and evocative ways and a beautiful script to begin with, make this show a must-watch.... full review

THE BULLY PROBLEM

So much fun. Fast-paced and uplifting. I really enjoyed the entire cast. Memorable, funny, and charming performances. Superb lyrics from Mr. Shapiro (also, loved the book and music!). Michael Shapiro blends amazing wit, robot-level genius, (see how I did that?) and perfect rhyme and scansion. As a lyricist myself I have HUGE respect for his abilities!... full review

I loved the show overall. Every aspect of it. The lyrics, the music, the dialogue. This was a world class musical disguised as fringe theater. It was performed professionally and without a hitch. It had good pace and went by smoothly. There were no dull moments. In fact it was very funny all the way through.... full review

My Trans Wife

I was very impressed with this show. To put your own life stories out there for everyone to see takes a lot of guts. Their story has emotional content but also a lot of humor - and some terrific harmonica playing too. Mara and Mimi are very personable and I came away feeling less like I had seen a theatrical performance than I had just met new friends and I was lucky enough to have them share the story of their interesting lives with me. Watching this show was a very positive and uplifting experi... full review

A Night Out by Harold Pinter

bill ratner · June 28, 2019 certified reviewer
A very likable ensemble effort to lift this 60 year old Pinter play into the 21st century was successful. This dark, absurdist comedy of manners and indictment of middle-class British stiff upper lips still breathes and shocks and makes us laugh thanks to the well-coordinated, tightly directed, and talented troupe of actors whose accents I wondered about in the beginning, but after they warmed to the play and the night's audience the acting and East End accents cracked along into the dark night o... full review

Let’s Write a Musical

terri weiss · June 28, 2019 certified reviewer
FABULOUS!!!!!! How you can write a musical with this topic and have it be completely joyous, I don't know. Kudos to the writers. The entire cast was excellent but the stand out, for me, is Cameron Gilliam who takes John Coppola's BRILLIANT staging and just flies with it. John Coppola has this amazing ability to give actors physical things to do that add humor and fun to every moment. I've been seeing 2 and three shows a day practically at the Fringe and this is the MOST fun by far. ... full review
