Start Swimming

david graybill · June 08, 2019 certified reviewer
What is the right answer? In a Pavlov-ian exploration of the modern world, Start Swimming asks the question, “Why?” and then attempts to explore all of the answers. In a play that James Fritz (the author) describes as, “something that would articulate how our cast felt about growing up marginalised in a major city during a time of incredible political upheaval” (Introduction, Start Swimming) this is not a resolution to the revolution. It is reason behind it. It is the story of our own minds, ... full review

Wow! Well, I could have saved a lifetime of heart ache if I had scene this show when I was in my early twenties! Lara is absolutely charming, adorable, sincere, brave, bold, and just downright impressive as all her selves coming to her own rescue. Empowering to say the least, Lara’s Leaving Prince Charming is one big lesson in self esteem and a powerhouse of a solo performance that will leave you begging for more! Spoiler alert... thank god she left him... for us!!!... full review

Clementine is a beautiful show. April Wish's acting is so incredible - she flips through so many expert characters, and can go from comedy to drama in seconds. She's so powerful up there - I can safely call her a certified tour de force! Seriously this is a fab show -- it's really touching and it definitely made me cry as I drove home thinking about it. Can't recommend enough. Loved this story about her family and all the generations of women in it -- and a beautiful set! ... full review

Matthew Robinson’s play is laugh out loud funny in this hilarious jab and pop culture. Beyoncé worshipped as a god: amazing. The actors lived up to the beautifully comedic elements to the writing that had you laughing at every turn! Robbie Delavine’s directing was incredibly strong, supporting the writing every step the way, with a clever use of the space! Congratulations Matthew on a hilarious comedic play! Write more! You funny now!! ... full review

Batter Up! My Brain on Baseball

tim meyer · June 08, 2019 certified reviewer
What a fun show! Mr. Moore’s enthusiasm for baseball is infectious. The best way to describe it is it’s like the theater equivalent of meeting a stranger in a bar who talks at you non-stop about their favorite hobby which you know nothing about, but they’re so charming and passionate about it you can’t help but be entertained.... full review
