I thought it was one of the best “one woman show” I’ve seen performed at the fringe! Creative, funny, truthful and downright relatable!... full review

George. included a non-traditional color blind cast. This is something you would like to see more often. The acts were well detailed with the soothing sound of music. What a stellar performance by both Henry and Miriam. George. was well written and directed with a twist of humor. George. is a great play to see.... full review

Fifty Shades of Melania

Fantastically crafted! Wonderfully performed! Funny, funny, funny! Scary how funny, yet horrifying it is! As entertainment we couldn’t ask for more absurd comedy... but should we really be laughing?!?! Liana has written a striking piece of satire and has executed it in layers and layers, of costume changes, multimedia effects, and accents that will have you crying uncle and gasping for a recount all in one breath!... full review

Ask A Black Woman

Absolutely stellar show. I would watch this again. Shanara knocks it out of the park the second she walks onto that stage. She is fierce, unabashed, brave. This show is important because it is about a woman reclaiming her time and space in a world that so often takes those from her. Thank you Shanara for gifting us with these stories.... full review

Exciting, dark, and funny. Lucy Gillespie's writing and Billy Ray Brewton's directing are a perfect match in this show, which is rounded out by a talented cast. Ben Hethcoat as Lee Atwater is one of the best performances I've seen in a long time.... full review

Exciting, daring work from a group of young auteurs. It’s great to see people taking risks and doing theatrey theatre instead of settling for the safe known quantity. Definitely “weird” if you’re looking for old fashioned realism, etc, but I personally loved this abstract exploration of authority and resistance.... full review

Human Fountains

erik blair · June 29, 2019 certified reviewer
How can you not marvel at a show that's about people spitting water for an entire hour? A combination of clowning and choreography and lots and lots of water. The Human Fountains are exactly what they claim to be--human and fountains--and that's absolutely okay be me. Weird, wonderful and wet, Human Fountains finds humanity through the perfectly choreographed use of mouths and lots of bottled water. Even the audience gets into the act (to my complete embarrassment!)... full review

Dana Benedict has put together an incredible character with Twirly. Partly undead, partly a clown, partly a tap-dancer, Twirly is a twist on the classic clown idea that's absolutely wonderful. Wherever Twirly goes next, you should make sure you're there to see it. She's THAT good.... full review

THIS SHOW WAS THE BEST ONE-MAN SHOW that happened at this Fringe, hands down. If it does not win the Freak award for solo show, there is no justice to the awards in any fashion. People should vote for this show even if they haven't seen it. I promise you, it's that good.... full review

The Scorpion and the Frog: A time-killer

erik blair · June 29, 2019 certified reviewer
You could call this show "Waiting for The Fable" or "The Scorpion and The Frog are Dead" because while I was watching it, all I could think about was how this was a fairy-tale version of Waiting for Godot or Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead. It was definitely a new way of telling that story, looping both in its prologue/epilogue and in the fable itself. It was eerie, dark and very worth watching.... full review
