You can't always judge a book by its cover, but TILT had some killer artwork. Looked like some classic Guy Ritchie pulp, but I thought there's no way that could be pulled off on stage...
And it wasn't.
Because TILT was way better than some Guy Ritchie joint.
We got a solid two-hander that's exploding bigger than the confines of that small room. Engaging story, characters, dialogue - I want to see them on a big screen. As is, though, we have the American Martin McDonagh.

One-man show slash stand up routine slash history lesson slash self-help seminar - this thing veers around the stage like Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I didn't know what to expect going in. Perhaps some UCB grad providing snarky answers in some homespun style? Instead, Twain bitch slaps you with solo sketch comedy, audience participation and some damn fine advice. Seemingly structureless, in retrospect this show is a brilliant Harold.

I remember "Punch and Judy" being my very first theatrical experience many, many years ago. Whatever vague, twisted memories I may have had came rushing back solid with this brilliant, satirical production....
