From the writer/director: I was listening to Conan O’Brien’s interview on Dax Shepherd’s podcast. Conan is the only person still hosting a late-night show that was also doing it 20 years ago, and he was talking about what it was like to be a late-night comedian during 9/11. When I heard that, it was so profound and interesting that I couldn’t get it out of my head. I thought, “What would it be like for a late-night show host and his team to grapple with their purpose and livelihood during national tragedy?”
“Still Awake" is a 90-minute dramedy about an ambitious late-night host with a sputtering career who must take momentous action for his show — and country — in the wake of the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
