My overall impression
It’s happened to me twice now this year … I have something else I’m seeing and a little time to kill before it starts and nothing else to do while I wait. So I find another performance nearby and just figure I’ll check it out while I wait for my REAL play to begin … and then I fall in love. I loved this play and the characters. The story was very moving and memorable (especially sad knowing it was based on a true story – but so often those are the best stories, this being no exception – and yet also heart warming.) The performances were both delightful and neatly woven. Watching Anna begin to soften and care about Joseph just made my heart soar. The final scene made me cry tears but also feel joy for the loving friendship that was developed and the unselfish compassion that Anna shared and Joseph was able to receive. It’s plays like this that make me love live theater so much and want for even more. Gentle Passage is that little gem in the rough that I will think about for years. Bravo!
