Meet Nellie Bly, female pioneer and world renowned journalist, whose work shed light on many social issues of the time including: women’s rights, the immigrant experience, financial inequality, mental health in society, and truth in journalism. Artist Jaclyn Whitehair brings Nellie’s fascinating story to life in a one-woman solo show.
Nellie is known for her celebrated stunts, including traveling around the world in 72 days and posing mentally ill to report from inside an insane asylum. Her fearless attitude opened doors for women in journalism and showed the world that women can do the impossible. Her work was driven by seeking the ugly truth people did not want to see and telling stories that would change the world.
