My overall impression
Reading over what others experienced, I feel like the weird curmudgeon in the closet. Maybe all the buzz raised my expectations far beyond anything that could deliver on that anticipation. I left a bit disappointed. I came in wildly curious about what life is like for such a master of the voice-over and, as Ratner hinted, there are oodles of stories about that professional life. I guess those are the “inside baseball” stories I wanted to hear, far more than heartfelt (and amusing) tales about his childhood and relations with relations. I felt warmed, not thrilled – and maybe in a harsh world, that’s more than enough.
