I drove a couple hundred miles from the San Joaquin Valley to see Bill's show and meet him, finally, face to face. I was not ready for the what I experienced that night. Indulge a little background, please. In my prior life, living in SoCal as a corporate video writer/producer, I had used Bill's voice-over talents for many, many projects spanning almost 15 years. I was that director on the other side of his headset that he began the show with. Enter irony, stage dead-center. I too listened to my first crystal set in my bedroom in the dark and felt the entire world flood my head through that copper wiring. I too 'loved' Lucy and Fearless Fosdick, I too made prank phone calls to unsuspecting innocents, recording their responses to childish que...

Not too much to add to the well-deserved raves; this is a damn fine, well crafted show. Engaging, moving, funny. And it left me wanting to know more; each 10 minute or so section could easily be expanded into its own full length show without showing any strain. Well done!...

From New York to Edinburgh to Los Angeles, I have seen one-man shows at the Fringe for many, many years. Bill Ratner's piece is one of the few that is exactly what one should be. Bill made me laugh with a room full of people, and once or twice on my own, I think. He also made me cry; with his honesty, hardship, and, most of all, humor.
Any man who can do an impression of Zero Mostel from Ionesco's "Rhinoceros" as well as Flint can talk to me about anything. And that is what Bill Ratner does- so very, very well.
Go see him do this,

This show is a must see for all, and anyone who grew up with the advent of radio, and television which influenced their home and life, and their children and grandchildren who could all be enriched by understanding the profundity of these forces; The advertising with the commanding voices; the radio, allowing our imaginations free play; and the constant presence of all these in our daily lives.
Bill Ratner has woven all the personal stories of his own life, interspersed with the power of the American Dream and the limitless ambitions it aroused in him, plus a hint of the path to realizing it all. This is woven together with a stirring musical accompaniment and Mr. Ratner's inimitable power and presence and depth as a storyteller. I would es...

I laughed, I cried, I was fascinated and drawn in for the entire ride. Bill Ratner is at ease, a master storyteller, carrying us along with him on this well-crafted journey from childhood to Hollywood, with peeks into many worlds and places we may never have been. Bill's story is richly contextualized throughout so it becomes much more than the deeply personal story it also is. As when reading a great book, I felt a reinvigoration of my imagination. Ratner is articulate and multi-talented, much more than a voice. I was left feeling satisfied and nourished, and sure that Bill Ratner has many more stories left to tell and that I want to hear them all! Go see this!...

Terrific show! I've seen Bill Ratner's perform before, so I'm not surprised. In addition to being totally entertaining and funny, Voices In My Head is extremely moving. Bill is the consummate storyteller and a great harmonica player too. Enjoy!...
