What I liked

Marjorie Knight, as “Ruth”, is a force of nature and commands the stage with a confidence and swagger you don’t see much on Fringe stages. Kelly Crossley and Omar Salazar have a lovely chemistry that really makes their scenes pop with vibrancy. The staging is simple, but it works because the story is simple. It’s the CHARACTERS who are not. The script by Montana Cypress is filled with subtle eccentricities that really add to the sense that this is a subset of people we rarely get to experience on stage.

What I didn't like

The “Wooten” character was a little broader than the rest of the piece, which proved a little distracting. But he barely has any stage time.

My overall impression

A complex and affecting tale with a skilled attention to detail in terms of time and place. The show really evokes a lot of authentic emotion, and the result is something purely theatrical.
