What I liked

Clever lyrics, and I cannot reiterate enough how catchy some of the melodies are. Reminded me very much at times like some of the pop sensibilities from the opening number of Heathers: The Musical and a bit of Forbidden Broadway.

Some crazy characters! Super creative. Lot of fun.

What I didn't like

I would love to see some of the bits from the puppets reworked to catch up to how well-written and deft the lyrics are. The classic Statler and Waldorf set-up is already established, actors behind the curtain handle the comedic timing and their accents with ease—a simple punch-up will make this piece ready for the next step.

It ran a little longer than advertised. Not a big deal for me, but sometimes people have their schedules stacked and that can be a little bit of a problem. Not a big deal!

My overall impression

Doused in zany frivolity, “Public Domain: The Musical” combines puppetry, totally unexpected characters, and seriously hooky melodies.
