Nominally this play is about men navigating the treacherous waters of online dating, but, really, its message about love and connection, to others but also to oneself, is universal. I went to the premiere and it was an incredibly (given its “first night” status) well-oiled machine, with a charming, talented cast that was clearly fully invested — in the material, in each other, and in the audience’s reaction (by the way, there are many laughs to be had in this play). Most of all, this play very clearly comes from the heart and as such provides a deeply moving, memorable experience.
What I didn't like
Think some (one?) of the earlier flashback/memory moments could use some further delineation (lighting? sound effects? some sort of light music bed? not exactly sure what the device would be) from the main storyline in order to avoid some confusion about where we are in time. As well, wouldn’t mind bolder (just a little louder?) music in the (hilarious) dance piece.
My overall impression
In this day of limited time/attention, this is 75 minutes very well spent.
