What I liked

The female half of the cast was strong, almost over coming the text.

The brightest spot was the role of the captain, providing some much need wit and pacing.

The lighting was sparse and reminiscent of the genre.

What I didn't like

This play was written like a movie, with many short scenes followed by lengthy set changes. That work in movie because the edit is instantaneous. But in a play the audience is forced to wait in the dark for a minute or two, draining any forward momentum that the might have been able to muster.

Great plays often have one scene in the first act, and one scene in the second.

If the lead is to be an all American dogged Everyman, he should be able to speak with a passable American accent.

The pacing could be much faster, both in terms of line delivery and the long pauses of dead air left hanging between the lines.

My overall impression

This was a play inspired by film noir, but if felt like it was written by some one unfamiliar with both plays and film noir.
