I loved the writing. I saw this show on opening night and the lines (like “our smallness underpins immensity”) have stayed with me like sea-foam in my veins. The opening monologue and the closing remarks were just absolutely wonderful. This play is intelligence and intellectualism with a healthy dose of slap-stick thrown in for good measure.
What I didn't like
The direction seemed a bit…clunky. The transitions between scenes were often uneven and disordered. The drunken birds scene, while hilarious, was difficult to hear because the actors were too loud and over-the-top in their performance. But these observations are based on the very first show, so perhaps the actors will settle into their roles and the space…
My overall impression
I absolutely loved this production. It was beautifully written; an intelligent, intellectual, hilarious, self-aware, and poignant snapshot of the far-reaching effects of climate change. This show is a must-see!
