What I liked

HARVEY IS A MASTER OF HIS CRAFT FIRING IN ALL CYLINDERS! I was shocked to find out that this actor who portrays a multitude of carefully crafted and unique characters…also WROTE this incredibly complex and nuanced piece?!? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, because he handles the material with such ease. I also appreciated how connected he was with the audience. Never having done a solo show, I can’t imagine how nerve wracking that can be, but he’s relaxed and poised. Also, THE MUSIC! Harvey’s guitar skills proves that you don’t need a DeLorean or Tardis to get you traveling through time and space, and it’s just as magical.

What I didn't like

Honestly, it’s hard to think of anything that could be better since it’s so we’ll crafted. I don’t want a fancier set or special effects because the simplicity of the music, telescope, and chair are all you need for this journey. Congratulations to Harvey, Elitzer, and all involved in crafting such an excellent show!

My overall impression

A TIME TRAVELER’S GUIDE TO THE PRESENT is a powerful example of how such a big idea, in the proper storyteller’s hands, can feel deeply personal. This hands down has to be one of my favorite time-travel stories of all time, perhaps besting Back to The Future or Looper. Harvey’s writing and acting is top notch, and with Elitzer’s sharp direction, their work leaves you on the edge of your seat the entire time.
