Like I said, the actors are working their butts off. Everyone is committed, and most of them are very funny!
The directing is also brilliant—that bit with the shower and the cat undies???? Love it.
What I didn't like
Unfortunately the things that are bad about this show are very bad, and dampen the talent and commitment of the actors on stage.
This could have been 30 mins shorter, easily. At least three songs should have been cut.
That joke about how “no one likes a bloody pussy”? Yeesh, whoever wrote this just outed themselves for not eating pussy. It’s no wonder the lead character can’t seem to find a date with a cool lady.
The Pluto guy. What on earth was going on there? Why is he the only one in the mask? Not sure why that actor was doing anything he was doing.
Upon further digging, you discover that the show was written by someone named Nicholas, and the main character’s name is Nick. Need I say more?
My overall impression
Well it’s interesting, I’ll give it that. If you come to see this show, come drunk. The very dedicated and well-directed cast truly do their best, it seems.
It’s about a white straight male with a cat played by a woman who rarely speaks. If you just rolled your eyes, then multiply that x100 and that’s how I felt watching Hells Kitty.
The writing is insane, and not clever. If you think “pussy” is the funniest word you’ve ever heard, then this is the show for you.
It all moves so fast, with so many characters that barely mean anything, and so many songs written with bad rhyming that you can feel the audience groan when a new one is coming on.
Granted, I haven’t seen the movie. Apparently there’s a movie. A section of the audience was laughing extremely hard throughout, I guess they were in on it.
