Good acting! I especially liked the acting of Rafy Minario and Miskar Chomske. Good use of the stage! I found much of the poetry quite beautiful. Some wonderful pictures and visuals were projected on the screen behind the stage, adding a lot to the stories being told.. Mostly I liked that it took on and informed me about something I knew little about. And did so very aesthetically.
The incorporation of different languages into the show effectively helped us appreciate how this is a global problem.
What I didn't like
It was difficult to follow in some points. Simple adjustments could be made so it would be easier to understand. The last section of the program describes each of the scenes, but I did not have a chance to study it before the show, and the descriptions were so long that they wouldn’t give one a good grip on what was happening.
My overall impression
Raven Kras has woven theatre, dance, poetry, visual images, and music into an integrated piece which dramatizes a problem in our world – threats to freedom of expression and particularly to a free press. Ms. Kras’s passion about the issue comes through in the piece. There are beautiful scenes and moving moments. scenes. You come away having learned something.
