What I liked

Generally, everyone had impeccable timing, so all the jokes killed. Also loved how White Dad does a hilarious Michael McDonald. More broadly, I really appreciate how Joy puts herself out there with this. By being specific about her experience, Joy both allows a story from an underrepresented culture to be seen while also allowing us all a point of reference to relate to her story ourselves. It also makes us all reflect on our own parents and experiences and consider how we’re all both blessed and cursed in our own ways— a pretty solid moral of the story for such a silly and fun show!

What I didn't like

The first song with her Filipino parents went on for just a touch longer than I’d have preferred.

My overall impression

So charming and hilarious! Anyone with immigrant parents will relate… but literally anyone with parents will also relate! Funny, catchy songs and a terrific cast, with the perfect quick length of 25 min!
