What I liked

I loved the blocking throughout the show- the separation and lighting in the beginning for their separate stories and coming together when they met. I like the spotlights that were used for the more dramatic recalls- the conversation with Mimi’s mother and Mara’s father. I also loved how casual and authentic the play was- more of a telling of a story than a showy production.

What I didn't like

I think there was one point in the play were there was some background music. When the music came on, I wasn’t sure if it was a phone ringing or a soundtrack. If there had been more moments with background music, I think it would have felt more comfortable.

My overall impression

I thoroughly enjoyed this show. I thought it was funny and sweet and told a story that is not heard enough. I think it was courageous and inspiring for Mara and Mimi to chose to tell their story in such a public way, and I appreciated that a lot.
