I loved the actors I followed; they were super strong and stayed in character the whole time. I did enjoy that everything was timed so meticulously that we rarely had to wait at a light to cross. Seeing the various back streets was pretty cool.
What I didn't like
The walking pace was really brisk. At times, I had a hard time keeping up and I’m in pretty good shape. The characters might need to speak up a little more; especially when on high traffic roads; it was hard to hear what was being discussed. -[slight spoiler]—-
I would suggest not taking the offer to get a drink when you go inside the bar. I felt bad for the guy I was with who purchased a beer. The character said we’d be there for about 10 minutes, but after only being at the place for maybe 2-3 minutes max, he had to chug the beer so we could leave the bar to go to our next destination.
My overall impression
The way I’ll relate my experience is this: it’s like I was reading a “choose your own adventure” book and the adventure that was chosen was the least involved of all the stories I may have been able to experience. I didn’t get any sort of anything because the characters I followed weren’t primary characters in the adventure — nor did they speak of the other characters we weren’t seeing while spending time with the ones we were with. Every time I got passed along to new character, the only thing mentioned/told to us was, “the queen is evil. Unreal City is not what it seems. Be careful with whom you trust.” When we did finally meet who I would call a “primary character,” it was in the last 5 minutes and nothing was explained about who she was, why we (as participants in the city) should care about her in the story of things. There was no full circle to which of the Hollowmen was the one who would betray us… that was kind of a letdown. And then when I found out others completed challenges and other things and the group I was in didn’t have anything, I felt a little left out…
Nonetheless, this is definitely a thing to go to as a large group of friends so you can discuss the aspects of what everyone saw at the end.
