I liked the opening song and the goofiness of the two people who run the conversation center, but then with that extreme sketch comedy energy, it’s hard to take anything seriously and I think this show warrants a little more seriousness if the audience is to feel anything at the end when the character comes out and gives his heartfelt speech that asks us for empathy.
What I didn't like
.Overall I could see the show becoming more of a sketch comedy situation where all the characters are over the top showing us the absurdity of the situation, or the show could lose that aspect and operate from a real place the whole time.
My overall impression
The topic of this show is incredibly important and under-discussed- I love the idea of this show. I really like the device used to switch between fantasy and reality, but the whole production seemed to be geared toward sketch-like comedy… that’s great- and it was laugh-out-loud funny at times, but then the show would suddenly be in an unearned deep moment… the whole thing sort of felt like having a conversation with a friend who hadn’t dealt with their feelings on a topic- they’re laughing, but you’re crying- no one is on the same page. I’d love to see this show commit more to the dramatic and real aspect, but for now I don’t think the show knows what it is.
