It would have been great was if Laura’s voice was mic’d for the songs. I know that produces other challenges, but it would have been nice if her beautiful voice filled the room.
My overall impression
Laura Coyle’s story was thoroughly entertaining from the moment she began until the last note. The show was poignant, funny, and provocative. The audience was skillfully brought into the world that is Laura and we really got a sense of what it was like in that Connecticut house where she grew up. Stories of hope, disillusionment, mental illness, sexuality, love, and betrayal were artfully shared without ever bleeding into self-indulgence. Coyle and the show’s director Mari Weiss triumphed and I’m sure somewhere in the multiverse, Laura’s parents are proud of their wonderfully talented daughter.
