What I liked

I loved Yokko’s prologue work! Seeing Lady Macbeth’s pointe of view physically was scary, enticing, unpredictable and had me on the edge of my seat. The use of costumes was in itself a performance by the end of the show the clothes are all that’s left onstage. I’m a sucker for sparse staging and it being fringe it allowed the work to take focus. Love seeing Yokko onstage!

What I didn't like

I’d love to see the performance done entirely in Japanese. This does not take away from the show at all but I do believe it would take it to the next level- and thats going beyond what’s she so expertly already done. I think of Ninagawa’s 1984 Medea when I state this.

My overall impression

A powerful piece of work using the body to speak when words cannot be found. Go! Go! Go! The lightening design alleviates Yokko’s performance giving it another layer of story and emotion that at times takes your breath.
