The Moth Champion regales us with succinct storytelling that palpably evokes his addiction to Tinder while in San Francisco. This well-written memoir can be very funny yet, unlike so many stand-up routines, the show doesn’t feel temporary. Why? Because Rodwin is seeking love and maybe monogamy, even though he’s not beyond fucking every woman in SF without having to slip them three little white pills and ending up in court. This was one of the first solo shows I'd been eager to check out. The title was brilliant. There's a great joke in this show about the state of Tinder now, that ends up being what we are treated to. David rapidly exposes all the frustrating, heartbreaking and horrifying incidents, some on repeat, that have happened and are probably still happening to him, as he explains his creative process in the program. And just when I needed a breather as an audience member after a rapid fire 20 minutes, David gives us exactly that, as a major story makes a turn, and keeps us invested far longer than a cheap quickie swipe. ...
