What I liked
Everything I mentioned below.
What I didn't like
Honestly I was very impressed by this play. It should tour.
My overall impression
I’ve honestly never laughed more at a play before. And I’ve seen AT LEAST 30 plays in my life, so I’m basically an expert…
Every character was endearing, including/especially the multi-talented Martians who were not only amazing in their goblinesque performances, but deftly jumped backstage to play the instruments for this musical.
Although the premise is absurd, the story was well structured so there was always a sense that the situation was progressing and the characters were evolving. Music was catchy AF. Jokes were hilarious. Characters were lovable, witty, and balanced well as an ensemble. The performances were confident, genuine, and at least at my viewing they resonated in a delightful way with the crowd. Full standing ovation at the end.
Anyone hating on this play is either a fool, a contrarian, or just approached it with the wrong mindset. This was smart, silly, unpretentious fun and it was executed at a very high level.
My only regret was seeing the last show so that I could not go back again and bring other friends to see it. This play represents the best of what Fringe is all about.
