What I liked
Since I am too afraid to sign up to pick up strangers around town and drive them somewhere in my car, this show not only addressed that fear he had but went on to brilliantly recount the life lessons learned by opening your car door as well as your heart.
What I didn't like
Performed in a black box, utilizing just one chair on which he sits while recounting tales of his driving experiences, perhaps more photos or videos of the places he wound up driving to would be a good addition.
My overall impression
Jonathan Tipton Meyers is a native New Yorker, an actor, writer and filmmaker. In his solo show, he recounts how he decide to change his life by buying a car and learning to drive as he went cross country to Los Angeles to follow his dreams of breaking in to the L.A. move industry. When it didn’t pan out as he hoped, Jonathan decided to become an Uber driver even though he did not know the streets of L.A. nor which areas were not the best in which to drive. As he went from story to story of those who were always so thankful when he showed up to drive them somewhere to the stories he created in his head of what it would be like to go on the adventures with them, you will be pulled into the many touching, funny, as well as scary moments as he learns to navigate the streets, his imagination, and skills as a storyteller as he plays many roles as the people who interacted with him as they were driven around town.
