The title of Peter Foldy’s “Penetration” is somewhat misleading; it’s more about sexual fantasy vs. reality. And Foldy’s direction seems almost non-existent at times. To his credit there’s some good comic repartee and the play goes to some unexpected places, though not all of it works. That much of it works so well is thanks to Julia Henning, who’s got not only the requisite anatomy to play the fantasy girl from the online chat room but the acting chops to engage the audience....

It's great when you can see a play that is totally up your alley, and Penetration really was that for me. I really appreciate the play's willingness to push the boundaries, exploring challenging subject material, and exposing the characters flaws and strengths both in a really complex way. I found the play really relatable, and I imagine most others would as well, it can be really hard balancing your own wants and the wants that everyone else projects onto you and wants you to uphold. There is some excellent writing and acting here, I really recommend this play. ...

I was impressed with the play as a whole. The actors were good and likeable. The script was well-rounded and fun. Apparently, there were technical difficulties during today's show however I could not tell. I noticed the tv screen had a blip but that was about It. It felt very smooth....
