Love the dark, smart, gasp-inducing theatrical invention of this show! Sure, the characters have been around for ages (literally). But this is a fresh, completely original take on a timeless trope: yes, Punch is (always has been) a dick. But he really Goes There in this production and it’s incredible.
What I didn't like
Some of the violence is shocking. But I also recognize that’s built into the genre, and The School of Night team just delivered it in an unflinching, incredibly skillful way. (Which is precisely why it got to me….so it worked, even if it rattled me.)
My overall impression
Fearless, precise, visceral, outrageous. A Fringe must-see because it’s NOT a hugs-and-learning experience.
