A clever and dark take on a truly violent classic show originally "for the kids." The simple set and use of masks enabled the live actors to be more puppet-like to great effect! A lot of twisted fun with effective selective updating to reflect the times. The live music & sound effects from the one man band added wonderfully to the playful atmosphere. I'm glad they chose not to pull back in response to recent events...

Look, I'll be honest. I'm not a big Punch and Judy fan. Never much cared for the puppets or their ongoing feuds and violence and nonsense. Never much got it, cared for it, understood why kids were ever riveted by it. So when I say this show had me GLUED TO MY SEAT--you should understood how BLOODY DAMN GOOD it is.
And bloody is EXACTLY the right word to use here. Some reviews I've seen for this show suggest a lack of blood. I disagree--I think there's quite a bit of blood. It's just tastefully and artfully done to create the exact amount of excess needed to get the point across. Is it buckets like a Saw movie?
