The Audition

This is one of the best pieces of dark theatre that I have ever seen. It really benefited from its intimate setting in London, taking the audience on a truly intense journey. I would highly recommend this to anyone, theatre lover or not.... full review

Two outstanding performances from the cast, an incredibly difficult play to get right. They are only let down at times by the script itself which I felt was a little too long and could have done with some sensible editing. Very rarely do you find a production that draws you in, keeps hold of you, shakes you about and then drops you exhausted both mentally and physically like The Audition. With its claustrophobic feeling and tension throughout, you aren't just taken on a demented journey, you are strapped in the passenger seat and there is no escape. Both the performances from Ellie Colyer Alasquez and Julia Scott-Russell are breath-taking, and with Kate Muir's pitch perfect direction, this is a production that just doesn't demand your attention, it shouts for it and trust me, you will definitely reap the rewards.
