About the Project

“Your Mother’s Vagina” is a dark comedy, set in the bar of a brasserie. The truths of the two women (a bartender and her cocktail waitress) are revealed as one has discovered she is pregnant, without a partner and is facing a very real change in career plans, as a result. The other woman has a clear career and wants very much to be pregnant but her husband won’t cooperate. Hilarity Ensues.

A one-act piece starring Rachel Hirshorn and Beth Gudenrath, written and directed by Amy Chaffee. The play is a culmination of the three collaborators life struggles with infidelity, infertility and finding agency in their bodies in a tough world.

The play is multi-biographical and explores many of the elements of sexuality necessary in the work world. The journey these women take are an odd mix of finding identity, voice, ownership of our bodies and the process of losing them all over again.

This Hollywood Fringe Festival production of YOUR MOTHER’S VAGINA kicks off a world tour to four countries. If it ever gets made into a film, YOUR MOTHER’S VAGINA, could be opening soon at a theatre near you.
