Perhaps one of the greatest gifts of Cathy Schenkelberg escaping this cult is that she now joins the front ranks of amazing solo artists, delivering a memoir that is hypnotic, heart-breaking and ultimately heart-mending. Using her incredible vocal and physical acting skills, she immerses us in what it was like to fall under the spell of this "church." Shirley Anderson directs with precision, drawing out the compassion in the piece, giving Cathy only a chair to work with and Brandon Baruch's ace lighting design. Two boards and a passion indeed. And it's all that's needed to support the urgency of this cautionary tale....

This is a good story well told. Because the performer has a deep investment in the story she shares, the whole thing is very moving without falling into the trap is self-pity. This show is super fun....
