My overall impression
The Birthday Boys is an example of what I wish more theater in LA resembled.
This piece was bold, engaging and purposeful. Writer/Director Aaron Kozak shows real artistic maturity in tackling the topic he chose. There are no “loose ends” in his piece, and I left the theater very satisfied.
The cast, specifically the actors portraying the three kidnapped marines, brilliantly lead the audience on an emotionally charged journey of hope, fear, anxiety, camaraderie and even humor.
I highly recommend this play to anyone interested in a good night of live theater. This cast/crew really nailed it.
