La Puerta Abierta is a strongly acted, deeply felt little gem. It's performed in Spanish, although don't let that deter you. I speak little Spanish and had no trouble following the story, thanks to the clear staging and well etched roles (and a short synopsis). The show deserves a bigger audience. Get off of Santa Monica Boulevard and discover it....

I was very surprised when I got to the box office to find the production was to be in Spanish. I did not see that in the Fringe program when I decided this would be an interesting play to see. Since I had purchased a ticket online I decided to stay and see it. (I speak little Spanish.)
Given the synopsis I read ahead of time, I knew the general plot and I was able to follow the story, given the physical performances. I consider this play a sweet, simple story in the manner of a telenueva....
