Tracers

Wow. Where do I begin? Tracers was the first professional production I'd seen, when the cast first performed it as part of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts company, and I was blown away. It's been a few months since, and having worked with John Difusco himself, the cast has only improved. From the very first scene we are drawn in to the commentary veterans face on a regular basis. Immediately after, we see their instruction, which ends with an incredibly powerful moment: 80% are targets. This is an amazing show! I watched it twice and both times I loved it! The story is at the same time entertaining, funny (at times), sad and moving. I was impressed by the use of the lights and sound that made this production feel very real… As an audience member I felt to be on the stage with the characters, fighting with them, and going through their same pain and emotions. This is the second time I've seen this show, and this awesome cast was EVEN BETTER than last time! They never fail to surprise me in new and pleasant ways. Each moment feels real and honest, and they always find new impulses every night, which is perfect for Tracers - a play that calls for constant honesty and focus from the actors. This play also needs a massive amount of comradery within the cast that fills the entire theatre and even includes the audience. And trust me, the comradery in THIS cast was infectious. You need to see this show. If you do anything this next weekend...go see this show. I promise you that it will be better than the bar you have been meaning to go to, better than the couch, the errands. Its better than netflix, than the book your reading. This show encompasses all that it is to be human in this ugly/ beautiful world. The actors do a tremendous job. The message speaks through their work..it is horrific and timeless. Tracers is an amazing & emotional story about young men from different socio-cultural backgrounds being thrown together during the Vietnam war. Everything from the story to the sound and lighting completely pull you in to their world & you forget you are in Hollywood. You will laugh one minute and be on the edge of your seat the next. Tracers is a heavy memory of The Vietnam War. I'm from that time and had so many friends who came back so deeply changed that I barely recognized them. The play is wonderfully staged and acted. The music, the dialog, the staging took me back to the point I got lost in it... full review
