My overall impression
Before this show begins you are cleverly drawn into the premise; that lust, love, judgement, and rejection are seasons to the human condition – and they all have a cost. Luckily for us the cost is accompanied by a veritable delight of wit, gyrating beauty, riveting music, and a narrative that follows us afterwards, hanging on us; like the perfume of a lover. The blending we witness of smart and very accomplished self-styled ‘vaudcore’ music with contemporary dance is wonderfully underpinned by classic, almost fairytale, storytelling that both pays homage to its influences and paves the way for great theatre.
