My overall impression

Laura’s show is rich in Southern charm, and her personal story of struggling with an acting career in LA far from her roots is something many Angelinos can empathize with, but Laura’s easy delivery and effortless humor are beguiling because she’s taking us into some very uncomfortable territory.

Laura’s unstintingly honest portrayal of her final months with her father and her exploration of that complex relationship under the duress of his failing health and in the absence of her recently deceased mother who was the ever-present buffer between them… well, the gentle waters on the surface of this piece run very deep, and the impact of the work is all the more powerful for it.

It’s a courageous and skilled performance that guides its audience through an emotionally raw and real place where love and pain are an even mix.
