You probably already know know that you should see this. So short and sweet. I have almost zero exposure to The Hunger Games. I don't think this hurt me at all. I am a child of the late 80s+ video game era. This definitely heightened my enjoyment. The take away of the above is that I LOVED the concept, I was in from the pressing of *start*. The performances were quite good. In particular I enjoyed the Sheik/Zelda dynamic. But where this piece really shines (aside from its excellent fight choreography) is audience engagement. The show handled very well the balance between enough audience involvement for it to feel meaningful and impactful, without letting it bog down the experience. I genuinely want to know the roads no... full review

This show was a gamer girl's dream. The cast embodied their various characters with aplomb and flexibility, which was essential for the improvisational aspects of the show. The fight scenes were on point, the dialogue witty and at times very wicked, and the interactive aspect really added to the experience. From the writing, to the combat, to the gaming inspired accompaniment, The Video Games was layered to perfection, and left me wanting to come back again to see some of the other possible outcomes. A must see for this year's Fringe. I would hazard a guess that even the non-gamers out there would be swept up by this cast's energy and have a good time. ... full review

Very fun, and a grand surprise. The combination of iconic video game characters with the set of the Hunger Games was brilliantly done. The fight choreography is damn impressive, and most importantly fun. It is always a gem when you see a well put show and see that the actors are also enjoying the ride with you. For a fight show mix with interactive theatre, "The Video Games" is top notch, and does justice to honor their source material.... full review

A great concept brought to life using a ton of clever elements. What it needs is just a little more polish and clarity to be a truly great show. This show is full of larger-than-life personalities - video game characters, each the central figure of their respective franchises - and when you've got that many powerful personalities on stage at once, scenes need to be very clean and crisp, with clear, precise direction and blocking in order to avoid devolving into chaos. There were a few moments during group scenes with the whole cast on stage where so many things were happening at once, the experience felt overwhelming. However, once the battles began, the show fell into an entertaining rhythm, and I found myself invested in the story. The... full review

What a great concept for a show! Tons of fun seeing our favorite video game characters brought to life...and then trying to end each other. Some very clever puns, jokes and gags designed specifically for fans of the game and a great idea to have the audience voting play such a key role in the production. Some wonderful characters, especially Zelda, played by the wonderfully talented Elise Golgowski. ... full review

I have never really been into video games, but this show delivered something so unique and smartly thought out that I had a blast nonetheless (and even got a lot of the jokes!) The blending of Hunger Games characters with classic video game characters was funny and surprising and the fight choreography was just amazing. The costuming was spot on. So many great details in both the writing and production. The interactive elements are also super fun! ... full review

As a fan of both The Hunger Games and video games, I really enjoyed a lot of the jokes in this show. Knowledge of The Hunger Games isn't really necessary to understand it, but if you don't have at least a passing knowledge of video games, particularly those from the 80's, you might find yourself at a bit of a loss. The fight choreography was OUTSTANDING, particularly in the one-on-one battles. The stand-out was Link, who was fully committed to making the classic sound effects and had a line that brought down the house. I did feel that it took awhile to get going since they had to explain all the ways the audience can interact and introduce all of the characters. It might flow better if they lost a couple of fighters and one of the ... full review

This show was one of the most fun theater experiences that I have ever had! The experience starts as soon as you step on the property to get your tickets. The players are wandering around and mingling with the crowd, trying to convince you to vote for them. I went to see this show by myself, but I never felt alone. The actors enthusiasm for the show was infectious. The stage combat was fantastic. They used the space so well. I am going to contact the company and see if we could bring this show to the school that I work at, and maybe have a stage combat workshop. Go see this show. Seriously. I wish that I had been able to see it every time that it was performed. I hope it gets an extension because there are so many people that I ... full review
