My overall impression
I thoroughly enjoyed this show. The narrative, and the characters are not handed to you on a plate, but unfold naturally and organically. As I sat watching this, I thought to myself “Michael Lopez is an actor who loves acting”. I don’t mean that in the way that an actor can be showy or relish being the center of attention. I mean it in the way of an actor who truly loves the craft, who has a keen observation of people and works to find the humanity and specific vulnerability in all of his characters . The first half of the show I was reminded of Taxi Driver, the way DeNiro truly went into the mind of a lonely man who constructs his own framework to get through a crazy and sometimes cruel world.
