My overall impression

6/14 – Could be better – LIKES: Catchy tunes that I hummed walking back to my car. Live band (bass, keyboard, drums)! Adele-like singing narrator! Amazing poster (that sets the expectation bar a little too high for the audience). A talented cast having fun on stage! Loved Chris, Dave and Kat!
DIS-LIKES: Bryan Cain. His emotionless Spock like alien with the eye stalks is a downer and doesn’t belong in this show – unless he fills that “emotionless” void with some other choice – perhaps comedically depressed like Kip Kroker in Futurama. The staging wasn’t as clean as it needed to be with a couple key plot points – somebody eats a gum ball sized planet, I think… Too many awkward scene changes that bring us dangerously close to becoming a play about scene changes – I’d figure out a way to get all your scenes dressed using only that “Tardis” – maybe panels that swing open. Miles, Molly, and Nikki needs a stronger director to push them further into their characters. I wanted a stronger contrast between the villains and heroes. And the villains to be a bit more over the top and ridiculous. The ending also takes a stylistically serious turn – and tries to add a muddy message. Make us laugh instead and bring them all back to life.
