Kyla Garcia is a masterful storyteller, and the beauty of her craft is met by genuine bravery. Hers is a coming-of-age heart-breaking true love story that both opens and heals one’s heart. Kyla teaches us that hearts can break open, and that by voicing one’s story, one can learn how to fly. Her story is my story, and if you too have loved and lost, lost and found, this play will help you complete your own journey towards self-love. When I was 13 one of my best friend’s mothers told me, “You can’t really love anyone else until you love yourself.” For years I proceeded to fall in love after love that broke my own heart, because I hadn’t yet learned how to unfurl my own two wings. This was pretty stunning stuff. I loved it. The mashing of conflicting styles was particualarly effective. Mainly, telling a very mature, personal & adult story in the genre of an old fashioned fairytale. An audience participation pantomime, It made the darker elements even more upsetting. Smart. The performance was flawless. Kyla Garcia is incredibly powerful. Beautiful, vulnerable, strong, sexy, funny as hell and a little terrifying! And her vocal and physical work is to be studied and copied. A star performer. Go see. Please.... full review
